Help me stop and look
at what is remarkable around me —
let me see what I thought
was ordinary and recognize it
as hallowed ground —
help me to behold the sacred,
and keep hold of it,
even if I panic with holy fear,
so aware that I am but dust —
for even still, Your life
lives in me
and Your robes, they cover me;
You enable me to move through shame
and find courage to look You in the face
and hear Your voice, again.
My God. O, my God.
Help me stop and look,
and let faith in me recognize
You in my midst —
for here is where You find me
and I find You,
my Savior and my God.
Then the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire within a bush. As Moses looked, he saw that the bush was on fire but was not consumed. So Moses thought, “I must go over and look at this remarkable sight. Why isn’t the bush burning up?”
When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called out to him from the bush, “Moses, Moses!”
“Here I am,” he answered.
